Priestmangoode
In a project funded by RSSB, PriestmanGoode has developed two innovative seat designs to increase seating capacity on public transport by up to 30% per carriage (based on a standard commuter train).
All over the world, cities are facing increasing levels of overcrowding on their transport networks. Horizon and Island Bay provide an ingenious way to help increase capacity on public transport journeys, whilst aiming to improve the passenger experience.
The staggered seat increases shoulder space between passengers and helps improve the feeling of personal space.
Double foot rests accommodate passengers of different heights.
Horizon increases seating capacity by up to 30% per carriage (based on a standard commuter train).
Island Bay is a flexible solution that can provide a regular seat, as well as a high density configuration.
Island Bay functions as a regular seat over longer distances or at off-peak times.
