Our Health Manifesto – the first in a series of manifestos in which we examine the way clever design thinking could be employed to improve products and services – is published today.

Using our experience of working in the commercial sector, we’ve identified a number of practical ways in which design could be used to improve the health service including one great example of how, by applying the same design principles we use to create first class airline cabins and hotel rooms, we could create an intelligently designed and beautifully crafted recovery room to take the strain off the queues for hospital beds and improve quality of wellbeing during recovery.

Click here to see The Priestmangoode Recovery Lounge and to read our Health Manifesto.

This week we are unveiling our concept for the UK’s new high speed train in a pre-emptive move to persuade the government of the urgent need to move forward as soon as possible with the project.

Paul Priestman believes that the new high speed train is vital for the future of Britain, both as the low-carbon, sustainable transport of the future and as a crucial opportunity to champion British design and engineering in an increasingly competitive global economy.

Paul believes his concept, Mercury, could be the new Great British design icon, following in the footsteps of Concorde, the Spitfire, Rolls Royce and the Routemaster bus and reawakening Britain’s authority as a global leader in design and technology.

For further information about Mercury please download the PDF below

We believe that the new high speed train is vital for the future of Britain, both as the low-carbon, sustainable transport of the future and because it offers a crucial opportunity to champion British design and engineering at a time when we need to fight as hard as possible in an increasingly competitive global economy.

We need a new British design icon to follow in the footsteps of Concorde, the Spitfire, Rolls Royce and the Routemaster bus and to reawaken Britain’s authority as a global leader in design and technology. Mercury is our idea of what that might be.

Mercury is a double-decker train with a unique interior design that we believe will revolutionise domestic rail travel.

The exterior of the 400m long train, designed to emulate those great British design classics, will have an extended nose section which will be one of the most extreme in the world – vitally important for the aerodynamics of a train which will travel at 225mph.

For further information about Mercury please download the PDF below

Priestmangoode has designed the new flagship A380 for Lufthansa that has just been unveiled at a global media launch in Frankfurt. Priestmangoode designed the cabin interiors across all three classes with the First Class seat and cabin concept bringing the comfort and quality of the first class airport lounge on board. The new designs will be retro-fitted across the whole long-haul Lufthansa fleet, starting with the A330/340’s at the beginning of 2011.

Lufthansa’s A380 is the first super-jumbo commercial airliner in service in Europe and is a leap forward in aviation design setting new standards in travel comfort, quality, technology and environmental efficiency, introducing the most luxurious and highest quality first class cabin yet.

Employing the palette of leather, suede, wood and marble-like laminate in caramel, champagne, chablis, and grey-brown used in Lufthansa’s First Class airport lounge, Priestmangoode’s new first class cabin makes the cabin feel warmer and more domestic, as well as allowing a seamless transition between airport lounge and aircraft.
